Default Redline vs. Autopower roll bar

Redline roll bar is $489, while Autopower is $260 for the equivelent bar (STreet) and $370 for the STreet/sport which apparently has an additional horizontal bar for side impact.

This is your basic street rollbar, not a safety cage.

Is the Redline worth the extra money? Or is there a better basic bar than either of these?

Both are nice basic units.

Redline is easier to install, and doesn't require any drilling or modification of the interior panels.
The autopower requires drilling and/or welding.

The Redline bolts to stock seatbelt anchors; this may not be legal under some clubs sanctioning rules.
The autopower bolts to the floorboard, which isn't the best solution.

Both are more than acceptable for DE/lapping type stuff. Both completely eliminate the rear seat, and may interfere with front seat travel.

I have a customized autopower race bar (ERW steel); it's simple, but fairly nice.

I strongly, strongly recommend getting racing seats and belts at the same time. It's not entirely safe to combine a bar without race seats and belts.

you dont want autopower, you want safety devices.

i have a redline bar for now, only because when i ordered it i had a mint car that i didnt want to cut or weld, it is nice but it was also a 6 month wait and in that 6 months i got a different car

Save your money and purchase a Safety Devices cage when you can. I do not have experience with Redline but the Autopower cages are worthless. The Safety Devices cage has more installation issues, but is a much safer cage in the end.

Hmmm but what about the people that only want a bar? You can't drive a cage on the street unless you go around all day in a helmet. :/

Anyone wondered what would actually happen if stock car would roll at some speed? How tough they really are stock?

How much extra safety are you buying with just a bar? 5%, 10%?

My car came with the Autopower roll bar already installed. You can check out a pic of it at the link in my sig. I think it's a nice setup and looks to be fairly strong. I don't know how well it will help if the car rolls, but I like it primarily for harness use. Like RPG951S said, purchase the racing seats and belts along with a roll bar for the total package.

Is it possible to use a 5 point harness with the existing stock seats?

search for roll bar you will find a lot of info on this... i think the conclusion was that it's possible, but annoying & unsafe because they keep slipping off your shoulders or something to that effect.
