To be honest, even though there has clearly been a lot of time/effort put into this car, there was a deadline. Due to that deadline and the budget, we weren't able to do everything we would have liked. The rear diffuser being one of them. We were consoled by the fact that even though there wasn't a lot of data available for race 951's, we knew that the rear wing would produce a heap of downforce, so a diffuser for extra downforce wouldn't be critical. On the majority of racecars it's the front end downforce that you are chasing. We also had rules to work within which allows the splitter and diffuser to go only as far as their respected axle lines. Our splitter is just a flat bit of wood so there is more to come in the future for that. The car is going to be dissected by a Aerodynamicist called Andrew Brilliant next year and we will be given a list of options to take. He has worked on some of the world's fastest T.A. cars so we are looking forwards to that with great expectations.

Congratulations Patrick, Well deserved. Both yourself and Paul (and his team) from Evolution Customs have done an outstanding job to get the car to where it is now in such a short time frame too. This car is a beast, it dominated our last Porsche club supersprint which included a 996 GT3 RSR scalp, no mean feat. It looks the business, and its all functional.

reading the comments on the page and everyone is surprised that is got a factory engine in it..
Is it hard to believe you can get power out of these engines? or these guys live in a box

Love the article!

I think these cars are just so uncommon for most people Pauly. If you did a poll I bet over 90% of the world wouldn't be aware of their existence so it doesn't surprise me.

That car is freaking Awesome... I love that some has advanced the 951 to the modern age. That engine is sick, the added deck plate is sweet, should make that engine rock solid under boost. Speaking of boost how much are you guys running? Also got any video of the car running I'd love to hear it

When it was dyno'd it made 505whp @ 22psi. That was a reasonably cool evening. Since then we've only run it at 19psi and when we went back to the dyno on a hot day it struggled to make more than 425whp at 19psi. Since then we have a different turbo on there (GTX3582 .82) which is more linear and responsive, but we haven't been back to the dyno yet. There is definitely more power to come out of this motor as we are running a comparably lower ign map than others. Not sure just yet why but it didn't respond to more ign. A new intake will be the next change.

Don't have any decent in car video with good sound yet. Have a few shaky hand held vids I've done.
See us get baulked on our best laps during the main event. The white car lost us at least a second on our best lap. Were on target for a low 1:34 which would have had us as fastest RWD car in class. Then the turbo died that afternoon which was end of the 2 day event for us.

Here's the 1st day we drove the car. On a different short but demanding track.

Awesome stuff Patrick - congrats on the build and the coverage!

Some slick stuff under the hood there. I like the coolant reservoir. I like how the fuel lines don't cross over the manifolds. I like the IC duct.

Question (if you don't mind my asking): What's the line/fitting for, that connects to the top right cam tower cap?

Part of the breather system Jim. From memory when the motor turned up to us it had a pressure sensor in there which we never used. Put this to use with the breather system which helped.
