I have done ceramic coating on two of my cars.

Here's custrom 924 Turbo twin-scroll manifold coated with Ceracote C105 Titanium:

And here's 944 S2 exhaust manifold coated with Ceracote C7300Q Black Velvet:

With 931 exhaust manifold I have now first hand experience, much cooler (so you can touch the manifold briefly after hard run without burning your hand) and it was easy to apply.

Hi Patrick, I've gone for the Stage 1 headers which should hopefully fit a RHD.
Have others had problems fitting the Stage 1 to RHD cars?

As I'm moving to a GTX3071R (with Tial 0.83 hotside) the exhaust system was going to require major revision in any case. The upper part of the system will all be V-band so Tim is leaving some extra length in the pipes for cutting to length & flanging for best turbo placement. I have the Tial mount for the turbo.
I've got the SFR big-valve head, stage 2 intercooler, intake with 70mm TB, a 274 cam, Vi-Pec V88 standalone & a Clewett sequential trigger kit to go on, along with the SFR stage 2 fuel system & 1000cc injectors.
The whole lot will be running Wossner 8:1 pistons & rods for a 100.5mm bore.
For lubrication I'll be running an LR dry-sump system, Pace Products tank & Setrab oil cooler.
Tim

Stage 1 wouldn't fit my car, you might be lucky...

That's a lot of build right there Tim! I'd see if SFR is prepared to work with you to alter the headers. The RHD steering shaft is the problem.

Not a lot of performance difference with the stage 1 compared to stock anyway, I modified a set to fit, they definitely sound better.

How far out are we talking? I thought the Stage 1 header was interchangeable with the stock unti for a RHD car.

Could it be heated & slightly rebent to fit or is the clearance issue too great for that?

I bent mine to fit, but I had a custom crossover, I have heard of other people using a bit of local heat.

I've gone down this route buying pre-made pipes with my current twin turbo swap on my Audi S4. Anyone who makes a stock product based on a jig that's repeatable is going to be very reluctant to alter a standard product with out the car there to clearance it and make sure it works. Sending it back and forth isn't going to work. So basically I am now making my own down pipes and have been taking TIG classes at a local community college. I hate having to rely on someone else to get stuff done. Wish him the best of luck finding someone (local) to fix it up for him if it doesn't work.

I'll soon be welding these up and getting things done...

Skills from class after 30 hours (no prior welding exp), currently taking another 30hr class. Getting there slowly, have a ways to go yet.

Lots of people say SwainTech is the only way to go (the only ones with a measurable amount of ceramic used) and I've heard great reviews about them, not so much on the other brands. With that said, I decided to try some myself (I already had the oven for powdercoating) and did a set of V8 headers for my Audi in TechLine Cermakrome with their ceramic primer. Haven't run the car yet so I can't comment on it's effectivity of durability.

Primer (unetched)

Chrome (hand polished - vibratory polisher would be best)

That material is designed to mate directly to an appropriately etched substrate. What primer did you use and why?

It's a ceramic primer that I bought with the chrome ceramic (both Techline coatings from powderbuythepound). The primer was sprayed, baked, and then re-etched prior to spraying/baking the top chrome coat. They advertise the primer adds another 300-400F in temperate rating.

A few pics. Can't remember what these are coated with.
I worked with CEP to get these made up. Used pics and measurements and even then it is very tight. Thus far, we've had no issues with contact as far as I'm aware.
They were coated here though by a local company.

Thanks for those images Patrick - that's the best system I've seen on a RHD 951! Sweeeeet!
I've got the LR adjustable engine mounts, so there may be a bit of wiggle room if I'm lucky. Tim is leaving extra length in the other pipes to allow for fettling & flanging.

The whole job is going to wait until I can do everything at once:
(1) Engine removal;
(2) G'box & new clutch (KEP Stage 1 disc & PP) & Flywheel (Spec steel);
(3) All suspension - Elephant Racing sphericals, Leda coilovers (450 front/300 rear), 27mm T-bars, Tarrett A/R bars, RE Camber plates, Brey-Krause turret & A-arm braces;
(4) Brakes - Big Blacks with 5/33 valve & Pagid RS29s;
(5) Guard 50/80 LSD.
Tim
