If you are getting gas smell in the cabin, you need to check your rear hatch and make sure its adjusted properly and the seal is intact. If they are, you will never smell it.

I think my next upgrade will be a new exhaust system as well - from the down pipe back with the cat delete. Thinking Fabspeed is my best bet. Would be very interested in the new muffler sound. Looking to pick up some HP, but also want a great sound.

One question - how dificult is it to get the old down pipe off and the new 3" in?

i think some of you have missed something that plays major in exhaust. Position of the rear muffler.
The further back it is, the different noise it makes. I pulled my tip off from the muffler and it was louder and sounded more rice. Put the tip on and had a different noise. I made a custom dual tip for it and it went louder and slightly deeper.

I have a Borla. Think its an xr-1 or something, I use a slant cut tip from Lindsey racing and it does not sound raspy at all. Very deep, I like it.

I have the same rear muffler. Mine is the short one though. Take the tip off and tell me how much different it sounds.

lol there's no need for me to go take my tip off and report back to you on how it sounds. I don't doubt what you said at all. I'm just stating my experience for the op, which is that the borla is not raspy with a regular sized tip.

I didn't mean for you to actually take it off.

IMO you'll need to mufflers. 1 is just not enough. to loud.

I have been hearing good things about the magnaflow from just about everyone that has installed it, and the Borla is a bit inconsistent with how people like it

So maybe a Magnaflow street series and I could add a resonator later on?

I have the 4 inch system with a Magnaflow from Lindsey Racing. I really like it at the track as I can now hear the revs better with a helmet on. I've taken a 2 hour trip to a nearby track and had to wear earplugs. I really wanted the sound of Fabspeed but it was out of my budget. If I ever revert the car back to a street only I'd look for something quieter.

While our current offerings are great, I just picked up a 944 Turbo myself, so you can bet I will be doing a lot of development on it on the parts that we don't make already (header, crossover). I will play around with muffler setups as well.
I can't wait to hear the future offerings especially a possible muffler upgrade.

What do you guys think about the magnaflow race series 14851 on amazon. I just have to make sure it is a 3" inlet and I think I will order it.

Any concerns or thoughts?

Grant - I'd be very interested to hear how it sounds. Will you be running straight through or with a cat and/or mid resonator?

I have the Fabspeed 3" turbo back on the CA car and love it. It is a work of art. I like the sound personally and agree with the previously stated fact that it gets better with use.

I have a ceramic coated 4" LR on the FL car but it has yet to run so couldn't comment on it. If looks count there is no comparison.

I will be sure to keep the thread up to date with the project! The plan is to do a straight through 3" pipe as long as there aren't any hiccups along the way. If the noise is just too much I plan on adding a resonator.
