Question 951 S water pump leaking! Info needed

Hi guys,
five years ago i changed all the belts, rollers front seal kit and the water pump, buying all the new parts in an french internet site (CUPSPIRIT).
Now after only 12k kms, the water pump in leaking and must to be replaced!
The pump is a Laso brand. The original Porsche pump is too expensive (about 500 € here in Italy): what pump do you suggest me?
I find this on ebay, but it seems too cheap: what about it?
Many thanks
Fabio

Most of the pumps sold online are rebuilt. You seem to have had a bit of bad luck with this pump. If you want to reduce the chances of bad luck in the future, buy from a reputable vendor other than eBay.

I'm not saying everything on eBay is junk, I am saying if you buy from a known, long time vendor, your chances of this happening in the future should go down.

Also, ensure your belts are tensioned correctly.

Thanks Seacay.
Reguarding the belts tensioning, is there an alternative way than buy the belt tensioner tool?

I have had very good luck with rebuilt water pumps from Zim's Autotechnik in Bedford, Texas, USA.

I don't mind rebuilding Pump's myself, by far the cheapest way, but some 3rd world sweat shop could give a ****, - 6 year old with a rock to install the Bearing. Fine for an American vintage V-8 where 20 minutes is start to finish, but these Pumps are buried in a 944, Labor is key here. At least get a rebuilt direct from the Guy's that do the work, or commission the work at a trusted local shop if you don't want the pain.
Still, with what's riding on the health of the Pump, and considering the consequence's of a seized bearing in a Belt driven Interference Engine, I buy new top dollar Porsche, one and done for 60k miles.

I found a French site (ROSEPASSION.FR) that sells the water pump at half price than original one. I sent them a mail and they answered that the brand is GEBA or LASO, made in Germany and with an equivalent quality of the original Porsche. Must i belive it?

I bought many parts from Rose Passion. Parts often come with the Porsche stickers. I don't think you can go wrong with them, and it's unlikely their water pump will leak if it's a Laso.
