Hi guys when I put all new hoses etc on my 951 i installed new t-stat for engine and the mini one for the turbocharger. but noticed alot of parts cars I see have them missing. is this a mod or just cheap to add one?

On an interesting side note I also see plenty of 944 turbos run lower temp thermostats and thermofan switches however the turbocharger thermostat only comes in one temperature setting. Suggests that the turbocharger is not getting the cooling flow it was originally intended when people change out to lower temp thermostats.

Depending on climate, you may need to keep the small turbo therm in, otherwise the car will not heat up in cold weather.
I use them on street cars, but have removed them on track cars w/o a problem.

The cooling system on the 951s have a radiator bypass that the thermostat control. If you delete the thermostat you need to do 2 additional things. You need to plug the bypass opening in the pump and place a baffle plate in the inlet where the thermostat goes. The plug prevents the recirculation and the baffle plate slows the flow for retention time in the radiator.
