Default Installing resistors for bigger injectors

Here's a little background info on the car
Lindsey racing maf with Vitesse chips + smt-6
55lb/hr Siemens injectors (4 ohm)

This is my first time installing bigger injectors, and the resistance is lower than stock. The stock injectors are 6 ohms, and the ones I installed are 4 ohm. Should I put a 2 ohm resistor in line with each injector? And if so, on the power side or ground side?

Would the injector drivers run cooler with less resistance?

Thanks

good luck with that. I would just get high imp injectors

Just curious why you say that Reno?

I agree it's easier if you're sourcing new injectors but I've been running mine with resistors for 6+ years with no issues, as have many others on the board.

1. It's way more wiring
2. Another thing that can fail and can easily kill the motor
3. I have see them act funny and cause you to go crazy looking at other things when the whole time it was the resistors.
4. ppl say it makes the drives on the DME burn out
5. ppl say the injectors can get stuck

4&5 i have never seen it happened just heard.

I have been running them for 2 yrs no issue...
Not that I should speak for Tom, but has been running them for 6 yrs, and I have not heard that he had any issues either... ?
As for the wires ... there are four extra wires to run ...
Here is how I did it, and as I would love not to have to add another wire (s) anywhere in this car ....
It's not to bad ..I tried to make it more convenient so I hooked up a power supply quick disconnect plug so if there was an issue it would be an easy replacement ...
Just sayin"

Ed

Thats the best install i have seen. I have seen those spade connects loose. But they were not put together like yours. The wires where were not wrapped and secured like yours

Thanks
I also put that heat conductor paste on the bottom the resistors ...
Just for added heat sync protection ....

Low impedance injectors used to be 'better' , but the latest Siemens high impedance injectors are really good - better than the old low impedance injectors.

Ed, nice work as always. Who knew those project boxes polished up so nice.

Your pictures don't match -- the wires are coming out both sides in the open box picture, but all come out the same end in the closed box picture. Either way, despite using most of the heat shrink tubing supply on the west coast on the wires themselves, I'd still put a grommet in the hole in the box.

LOL
Yes, that is true both on the shrink wrap, ( look who's talking Mr. Shrink wrap himself ), and the change in direction ...
After laying out the original in the picture, I realized I needed all 4 ends of the wire, to show up on one side, so I could use the 4 conductor quick disconnect
hence the last picture showing all the wires on one side ..
I had forgotten to retake the correct picture. after the change....
As always, very astute of you Tom

Im a little embarrassed to ask this, since I slept through most of my electronic circuit courses in college...

How do I set up the resistors? Do I just install two 4 ohm resistors or one 8 ohm resistor? I looking for 6 ohms at every injector, I have 4 at the moment.

+1 There's some difference between the Injector COIL dropping the power and 'added on' resistance just doing some heating. The Driver's like it, but your leaving some magnetic 'snap' on the table.

You could always use a peak and hold driver, but that would be even more wires (power supply and board) and electrical complexity.
