86 951 Driver

I recently switched my car over to a 20w-50 weight oil and I have noticed my engine temps are a bit higher than normal. They are almost half way up on the gauge where before they would stay right about the second white line. Could the heavier oil make the engine run a bit warmer? The outside temps have been lower than normal too.
