Default Replacing Gas Filler Neck..

Did a search, nada.

Anyone have a link to post or a quick description on replacing the filler neck/gasket?

I'm wondering if any interior disassembly is required.

Thanks

I just got into this area. You need to remove the rear passenger interior panel and quarter window. After that you need to remove the carpet on that side of the hatch as well. You will see a black sheet metal part. It will need to be removed to find the filler neck. If you are doing this make sure to replace all fuel hoses while you are in there.

Thanks 86, I was afraid of that.

Tom, greetings from the beach ya 'ol fart!
Seen the pics, but I don't see a fastener around the gasket to the tube - thats why I thought Porsche had a slick exterior install.

So little info is available on this install, even personal stories differ. Looks like a slip fit to me.

Nothing like extra parts...

Pulled the old filler gasket and found a split sleeve with two dimples held in place with a circlip, because the old gasket was destroyed during the removal it's difficult to tell where it went. No distinct marks on the old gasket neck.

The odd thing is it is a firm fit inside the new filler neck sleeve bottom - when the split sleeve ends are butted. The only way the sleeve fits the filler tube is with ~.25" opening between ends. PET does not show this part. Best I can figure out is this spacer sleeve keeps the gasket positioned correctly (high) on the filler tube.

In the pic you can see the tabs that align at 10 and 2, they are offset so they only fit one way.
