Such a shame no more information was ever unearthed about that white car. Truly unique.

Patrick,
On my Black 944 Track car I have AIR front fenders 1" wider, GT Hood, Broadfoot Header Panel, Texas Performance Sun roof, 924 GTS rear Porsche wing, GT rear bumper and a Tony G front splitter.
The Red LS3/951 we widened the steel front fenders 1 1/4" and the rear 1 3/4", rear spoiler GT LeMans Wing, AIR front spoiler, GT rear bumper and the exhaust going thru the front of the rear fenders.

The flares don't necessarily allow you to run much bigger than stock...well at least not in my experience. You can go bigger but not by as much as you'd think. It also depends on springs, ride height, geometry, offset and even tyre profile shape/fitment.

Trying to weigh the benefit/s of using flares. Another thing with running flares is that you would have to cut out the original fender to go with it. It's quite a lot of work to gain a couple of inches and you'd have to chop the fenders up then rivet the flares together. One can't just screw the flares in to get that extra inch or so and runs it that way. So beside the different/race look and maybe weight saving (not so much because now you will have to run wider wheels/tires), for me, it's too much trouble to run flares unless the car will spend its life mostly on the race track. Looks cool when done right though...

My problem is that my car was painted about 6-7 years ago, just before i bought it. (Apparently some local Hells Angels guy did the job). The job was poorly done, and the paint is flaking off at the wheelarcs. Some rust spots are showning... So I have to do something to the arcs anyway
Might as well go BIG

Well if you put it that way...ya I'd go big flares ftw. What wheels/tires are you thinking of using?

I am happy with the 265's I have today, so I am not sure if I want to go bigger. Have rolled the fenders so they fit ok. Flares wil only be for looks

If you do go with flares, the 265 section-width will look quite narrow and you'd then need 21mm spacers to push them out. Can't really see them in the pix but without flares, 265 looks good but not with flares. I am thinking 285mm minimum.

Got hold of some cheap flares. They build 2in per side.
I have spaced out the wheels with a 28mm spacer

IF the flares are only for looks, then I would vote NO! But it isn't my car, so if you like it, go for it. What you have now looks great, so I wouldn't change it.

ehall - I think the OP is attempting to go both for look and functionality. He's trying to fix a bad paint job AND there is rust forming on the stock fenders. So he's trying to solve these two issues and not going too crazy with it.
