Default This is strange

I walked out into the garage this morning and hear a humming noise coming from under the hood. I assume that its the turbo coolant pump running. I pop the hood and see that the coolant in the expansion tank is bubbling and gurgling. The car hadn't been started for over 24 hours when I had just finished washing the engine bay. Anyone have any idea whats going on?
Thanks.

Sounds like your turbo coolant pump in running on. If you can hear it going pull the relay out. I think that will stop it. But Im new to these cars so others may have a better idea.

Find a wooden stick and stick it on the pump and put your ear to the other end. If you hear the whirring of the pump then that should verify its running.

Right, when the aux turbo pump is running, you will see coolant circulating in the tank. There is a one-wire temp sensor screwed into the coolant pipe attached to the turbo. It's either that sensor has gone bad, or the relay for that circuit (G22 I believe) has stuck.

Yeah, its definitely the cooling pump. I think it must have had something to do with washing the engine bay since I didn't have the problem before. I'll get it all dried out and see what happens.

Good news. Check the connector and sensor though -- it should not ground out like that just because it gets wet.
