Hello,
I bought a few months ago a 1989 944 Turbo S Project car. I am currently rebuilding the engine as you can see.

I cracked open the DME and the KLR to see what I had in there. Obviously the KLR and DME's had been refurbished by Vertex at some point (stickers on it), but though the KLR has the correct chip in it for a Turbo S (1267355131), I think the DME has an incorrect chip from an '88 Turbo non-S (1267355456). I think it should be a chip with PN (1267355498) for a Turbo S.![Confused](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/confused.gif)
Does someone have a programmer and has the capability to burn me a copy of a chip (1267355498) and ship it to me for a few $$?

I have a stock DME chip out of my 89 turbo. PM if interested.

The 1988 Turbo S and the 1989 Turbo both use the same DME (part number) according to PET. The chips were never available separately from Porsche, so I don't believe those chip numbers are associated with model years, but suffice to say the official Porsche position is that the 88S and 89 DME's are interchangeable. So, I don't think there is any need or benefit in changing that chip.
On the other hand, I see a frayed end on the connector near the knock sensor in that picture. I'd spend my time fixing that instead.

I would spend time taping over the other holes in the head, personally. But I'm a part dropper.

2 questions...
1. is a separation from the 944T harness/roasted turd crap via Jetta 2.0T, Audi A4-T, Jap turbo/stand alone possible?
2. or just opens new can of worms plumbing in half a dozen new sensors/maf, etc?
