FS: Mahle/Andial 104.5mm 2V Turbo Pistons
SOLD!! These are the real deal new Mahle pistons from the quasi-factory race shop Andial [now officially part of Porsche Motorsports]. I bought these in 8/07 and were purported to be the "last set" that Andial had. Just looking to recover what I paid for them, $1570. I also have a 3.0 S2 block rough bored for these pistons and ready for final special alusil honing to your clearance specs - $500.
All I've learned in thirteen years of driving and racing 951s, I've never had a Mahle/Alusil piston failure whereby others I've known who tried sleeved bores or coated pistons of various manufacturers were prone to have mechanical issues.

I have these pistons in my motor and have to agree they are the true workhorse of the 3 liter turbo motor. It's the lowest risk, most proven way to make a 3 liter motor. And now that Porsche bought Andial, they make for a virtually all-Porsche 3 liter turbo 944/68 motor. I'd buy them but have too many sets of pistons as it is....

If I was in the US I'd likely buy them, though after a bit of chasing around Mahle did agree to supply a set via the main UK importer so I don't think they are totally unobtainable. If I remember correctly Heritage offered to supply some as well but the price was a bit toppy.I believe they use a different coating process now too.

I've read stories for and against just about every sleeve/coat combo, so much so I've started to lose interest in a 3.0 turbo, don't remember seeing anything negative about these pistons run in Alusil though.....

the famous last set..
I bought the "last" set directly by walking into Andail in Huntington Beach in 2010. I was told at the time that they wouldn't be ordering any more since a 15 set minimum was required by Mahle.
Anyway my motor has about 6k on it with these, going to Willow Springs for another track day next weekend.
These are the real deal, GLWS to the OP.
BTW I paid over $1900 with tax so the OP is offering a nice deal.

Just for comparison how much does CW charge to supply and fit sleeves and supply JE pistons ?.

The older Mahle pistons were coated with an Iron coating of Ferrostan - not environmentally friendly today. The Mahle that I did, later LR took over, have the Iron coating Ferroprint - environmentally friendly and work like OEM in the Alusil bore. Some people have success with other pistons and coatings but I think the key to that is the bore and expansion rate of the said piston.
I sort of regret selling the Andial 2.8L Mahle pistons and 3.0L crank but I did. Decent price on the pistons and block. There is a brand new (or was) 2.7 bare head on ebay but it is priced as !@$#%&* gold.

The OP price is pretty good for the pistons, getting the block overbore finished is the difficult part.

There are a lot of people that do not know what they are doing out there! Any idiot can screw up sleeves, Ausil, Nikasil and just about anything else.

I have a problem finding somebody that would bore mine to 101mm. I called a lot of shops around and basically they for the most part didn't know what I was talking about. Few offered to try, but no guarantees. Bummer.
I found a shop that knew exactly what and how when I mentioned, but it is in another country, so I will probably take it there. They are in business since 1950, so I guess they are the best bet..
