Default Cat/Exhaust options for CA Emissions?

Looks like I'm going to have to do some work on the exhaust system to be able to pass CA emissions. Other than the 2.5" Magnaflow cat, can anyone suggest other options? Is there anyway to go to a 3" system and still pass CA smog/emissions?

You can get the 3" magnaflow cat, or a high flow cat from and have it welded in, its not legal but might pass the test

Here are some posts that might help:

And see post 14 here for state regs info:

As for 3" exhaust, I have seen CA publications that make clear the diameter of the pipe must be the same as stock, although I've never had an inspection station look that closely -- they generally just look to see if there is a cat installed at all, let along whether it's on the approved list and otherwise meets the install rules (i.e., face must be within 3 inches of original face, same pipe size, approved type, etc.)... But to be fully compliant you'd want to get an approved 2.5" from the PC-1 list and install it in the original location -- or get the DEC listed in the thread above for simple install...
