Default Dyno'd the car....results inside

About a month ago I put together a dyno day for a bunch of folks at a local shop in Fairfax, and decided to make some runs with the 951. Now, I'm not one of these dyno numbers nuthuggers...but admit they were a bit lower than I expected. The car has 55k original miles BTW

I'm still running the stock downpipe, and my cat pipe and catback are 2.5" instead of 3". Oh and I also have a high flow cat installed as well. I'm fairly certain if I go full 3" aft of the turbo I should pick up some HP and some spool.

The lower of the two dyno numbers were made at 18psi. After that I decided to go big and bumped it to 22. As you can see, I gained roughly only 25hp on the increased boost level

MODS:

Vitesse MAF kit w/75# injectors/3bar fpr
Vitesse VMAF+ software
Zeitronix WB02
Kokeln Racing Stage V turbo
2.5"catted test pipe/2.5" catback
Tial 38mm wastegate

Looking good! What fuel are you running at those boost levels? 22 is a lot of boost on street gas. Do you have V-Knock? Would be prudent to keep an eye on knock at that boost as well and V-Knock would let you log knock to your zeitronix. Depending on settings, V-MAF+ pulls timing when boost goes through the roof like that -- trying to save the motor -- so that may in part explain why you only got 25hp for 4 extra psi. You can over-ride that, but I'd be very careful. Your turbo is also probably at the end of its efficient range and blowing hotter and hotter air without much more oxygen. I'd guess you see a much bigger difference between 14psi and 18psi, compared to 18 to 22.

They are okay numbers. If you get a 3" turbo back, i think you'll pick up some decent power.

Looks like a fun car. Did you hold boost to redline at 18 psi? Definitely watch knock! I would definitely shift this motor at 6000 rpm. IMO with the stock cam no real advantage to running much over 6000 rpm and the risk of #2 rod bearing failure goes up.

I only turned the boost up on the two dyno runs, just to see what it would do. I normally don't go over 18psi. That's an interesting feature regarding pulling timing, I wasn't aware of it. As far as the turbo goes, I was under the impression it was good for 400+whp. It's basically a T04E 60-1 hifi, stage 5 wheel, #8 hotside.

That turbo is good for 500 rwhp over 15 psi.

I would like to get in on the next one you have. Where there other porsches there or just yours? Seams like some decent numbers for what you have.

I don't think those numbers are so bad for how your car is set up. You want the software to adjust for the higher boost -- otherwise you'd be running too little timing when running 15psi, or hg-popping too much at 22psi... From Vitesse's website:

"As the boost increases, the software continuously alters the fueling and the ignition. It’s all-dynamic to provide you the best performance and safety. Running higher than normal boost on pump gas can cause engine damage! What happens if your wastegate gets stuck or your boost controller fails? Boost will skyrocket in no time, and you are left with broken parts. Our software is programmed to compensate for excessive boost by enriching the mixture and reducing the timing. Consider it as a first line of defense! "

Personally I think it is the exhaust. I was stuck just under 300rwhp with a k27/6 last year running a 2.5 test pipe, tial, and the stock catback. I haven't dynoed the car with my new exhaust, but there was a noticeable gain going to a 3-3.5" setup.

Also, I haven't seen much info on here but I thought stage 3 wheel in a #8 hotside was the better setup vs a stage 5 wheel.

I know once I deleted my cat and did a full 3" setup there was a large gain, car pulled a lot stronger.

I agree with the exhaust, I'm not much on measuring back pressure but I bet you're getting some; that turbo with MAF II, piggyback, 55# injectors, 3" exhaust @ 17psi will avg around 320/320 +/-

for an off the shelf, bolt up correctly turbo, that Kokeln V was a nice turbo

It was mostly BMWs, as I post a lot on their boards (former bmw owner) I'll let you know the next one I put together. Probably near the end of summer I would think.

Sounds like a nice car - I wouldn't advise running much over 15 PSI if you are just on pump gas though.
