I've made some progress and thought I'd update and ask more questions:

The system leaked (wouldn't hold vacuum), as expected.

So I removed and tested the compressor alone. It holds vacuum (for an hour) even when I rotate the compressor by hand. Is there any need to open it up? Is it OK to just use it for R134a? How do I get the R12 oil out? Is there a port, or can I just dump it out the open in/out ports?

I've separated the rest of the system into the high pressure half (condenser and dryer with connecting hose) and the low pressure half (everything else, except the compressor) and I have tested both. The low pressure half holds vacuum, the high pressure does not. It's probably the condenser, although it could be the dryer or the connecting hose.

What options do I have if it's the condenser? Can it be repaired?
Factory replacement? Is there an R134 special condenser that fits the 951?

Any suggestions for where to go from here? Thanks!
