Default 88 Turbo Sunroof Latches stuck open

Hi guys,

I am hoping you can give me some direction on how to at least manually force the latches closed. I don't care right now if the sunroof works, I just need it to stay closed at speed as my first track day is next weekend!

The problem is the sunroof latches that come out of the body at the back are stuck in the open position. When I hit the button, I can hear the motor working. I've looked in the back at the motor and I can see the cable moving out of the sunroof motor, but it looks like the cable is not moving inside of the metal tube that runs up to the sunroof itself. I'm attaching a diagram to better visualize what I'm talking about.

Any suggestions?

You can remove the header panel, pop open the arm cases and manually set them to closed.
