Default 17" Cup II fitment question

Will 17" Cup II wheels with 245/40 fronts and 275/40 rears fit without rubbing or needing spacers? Lowered track car. Need to know asap!

Which front wheels? I have a friend who's run that combination NT01 on both the 7" 993 fronts and 7.5" 968 fronts on 968 M030 suspension on his 968 with no issues.

FWIW I did a test fitment of the twist 9" with 55ET on the front of one of my turbo S and it fits- this is with the OEM 255/40/17 and the car is lowered to autocross specs so it's pretty low with approx 1.5 deg of camber- it was just a test fit and I saw that it just cleared the front fender. So with 245/40---it SHOULD fit and not sticking out past the fenders. Now keep in mind, tire manufacturers are slightly different in term of actual side wall thickness when mounted, even with the same advertised aspect ratio so ymmv. With that said, I kept reading that Nitto tires typically run a little narrower...if this is what you are planning to use, that's an added insurance against rubbing. The back should be no problem as there are plenty of room back there. I too have seen 275 combo albeit on an 86 with thick spacers but that's an early offset car which your 89 should be ok.

I fit 255/40s in the front on my cup 2s with the big springs

Just barely though, I wouldn't think you could go any bigger without messing with things

Thanks for the input. FWIW - they are 968 wheels. I have full coilovers with 2-1/2" spings and -3 camber in the front. The car is pretty low (see my avitar)

Tire rack is out of my usual tire size that fit my stock turbo S cup wheels, so I borrowed my friends off his 968 race car. I run the Hankook Z214. He runs these wheels without issue (Nitto 255's in front & 275's in rear), but I just wanted to be sure since I'm unsure about the fender clearance difference between the two if any.

The only reason I'm bringing this up in such a panic is that I have a race next weekend and my car is in pieces getting a new tranny, tranny oil cooler fab'd, new Vitesse turbo, new power steering pump, new clutch slave....and tons of little crap. I just don't have time to hassle with a wheel fitment issue.

Thanks for the input!!!

I run 275/40 all around / square on my 968 race car, no problems.

Thanks. Those have pretty beefy sidewalls. You don't feel much roll with that wheel and tire size, do you?

Don't feel roll from the tires, sidewalls are pretty stiff.

Mounted the tires and wheels. 245's front and 275's rear. Everything fit perfectly.

BTW - Anyone have a set of 17" CupII for sale? 9's and 10's

I have a set of 7 and 9 Cup IIs that would be great for race use or as a spare with center caps. Pm me for pix with email address if you'd like. Although I am not aware that there is a 9 and 10" wide combo. All the cups wheels that I have seen are 7 and 9s. I could be wrong...
