Default lifters/cam tower on re-assembly

So my cam tower w/lifters has just been sitting there for 4 months now (see pic below). Is there anything I should be doing before re-assembling onto the head? Soak the lifters in ATF for a day or two? Or ???

I read about using a liberal amount of assembly lube to keep the lifters in place when I assemble. If there are any other tips/tricks to share, I'd appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

Ideally a good idea to soak the lifters in oil to prevent them from draining while in 'storage'.

A trick you can do is use a syringe to inject oil into the port on the side, or just let them sit in oil for a few hours.

Coat liberally in assembly lube, then have fun trying to keep them in the cam housing without falling out when you flip it upside down . Having a second person ready with the bolts is really helpful.

The assembly lube generally holds the lifters in place when re-installing. You can increase the odds even more by jacking up on side of the car so the mating surface is even less angled. Soaking them in oil for a night or two helps.

I used a light coating of wheel bearing grease when reassembling. Seemed to hold them pretty well. I used assembly lube on the cam.

Don't forget to put the gasket down before you put the tower on (BTDT)...

+1 on the grease to keep them in the bores.

After start-up, it may take a while for them to stop ticking (almost a knock). Some time at 3000 RPM will make them quiet.
