Writing on the rear differential

Default Writing on the rear differential

Hey guys
A while back when cleaning the rear diff of a boat load of grease that had leaked on it. After cleaning it I saw this writing on it
Anyone know what this says
It looks like 951 ASO or ISO ?
I am the orig owner and its a 88 951 turbo S

Ed, my guess is you're the only guy thats ever had one clean enuf to find it!

Lart and some cleaner on a rag my help solve this mystery....

Transaxle code is stamped on top of the housing, with a mirror you should be able to read. Here's a link to the codes.

He's referring to the handwritten marker on the bottom in the photo.

I've never seen one that clean. Ed, you probably noticed the thread about that low-mileage Australian car. I don't remember where it is or what it was called, but it was at Buchanans' shop. Might be worth a look to see if it has it, too, only presumably that one would say '952 ___"

IS that Y5 ISO. That's weird I might mean 5Y trans and in europe it should be OSI.

LOL .... Yea ...maybe Lart can answer, if he has ever see this, on the many rear ends he's handled in the past?

Yea I almost had a picture that showed the codes, but it really hard to snap a shot of it at that angle (will try it with a mirror ) Although, what I was really asking is, what the hand written stuff indicates ??
