I am thinking of doing this. My car has always had an issue when it is dead cold will idle a bit odd. Almost like every 3 or 4 full revolutions of the engine it skips a beat. I also noticed that when cold if I give over 50% throttle it will almost surge. Once it gets a little heat in the engine everything is fine. I thought it could be the AFM skipping on the track but when warmed up everything frees up a bit.

Might be the DME temp sensor. It changes the mixture for cold running. Look for it at the front of the cylinder head, intake side. Has the same connector style as the fuel injectors. It is a fairly cheap part and easy to change.
I have cleaned and re-tracked my AFM. I did not notice any difference.

Have you tested the ISV yet? Based on your symptoms, I'd check ISV, DME temp sensor, then AFM. You can try disabling the ISV with the diagnostic port and see if it runs any worse.
