Would make a nice torquey little motor, and you'd be able to use a stock clutch. On the other hand, I'm not sure the k27 is an easier fit than most hybrid turbos really, and a deeper breathing turbo gives you the option for more power when you (quickly) start to want yet more...

What's your budget? how you going to go with tuning?

I hope so, I'm going for a fairly conservative spec though.

I dont know, If good deals come along money's available within reason, I dont want to look in the engine bay and think there's a Ducati 1198S in there somewhere though . As for tuning Rogue or Vittese probably though a guy in the UK is making some progress but it's early days for him.

try looking for a 7200 k26/8, they pop up here and there, look around on the 930 board as they use them also.

Look into an intercooler also. the stock one is good but i rather get something that can cool more air quicker. besides the stock one is restrictive unless modified.

Just remember:
pistons: $1000
Rods: $1000
gasket kits ~$500
Clutch: ~$1000
chips&maf $1400
.....5K in it already..

Those parts are on my list, I'm picking out the essential parts and those that give the best gains and not chasing the last really expensive 50+ bhp. I saw a comparison of a standard intercooler against a modified st1 and st2 and the gains weren't massive.

If you are going to run E85 then even a K27/8 will let you run 20psi for street use, just don't run it on the track for 30 minute sessions without a whole lot more intercooling.
I just know that at 1bar my 3.0 was very quick and at 1.2 bar it clocked a 121mph quarter mile. If your goals are higher then I would go to a newer Ball Bearing turbo right off the bat.
1,2 Bar on a undersized turbo vs a decent turbo on 1,2 bar is very different .
A bigger turbo will flow MUCH more at a lower psi\bar as in cfm (amount of air) Turbo pressure as in PSI\BAR is highly overrated.
Look at a k 26\8 for example, it may hit 1bar but a bigger turbo at 1 bar will produce more TQ\HK and not drop off in the top. But ofcourse the low end disappears with the bigger better flowing turbo ..

I kind of miss the k26 at times when it comes to lag. Next build will be with a relatively small but modern turbo were spool and lowend will be key not whp

I was offered a new Lindsey LR75/10 turbo but I'm guessing even on a 3.0 it would be quite laggy ?.

Around $900 so not really worth the compromise, I wondered if I could build something useable out of the LR75 and my K26/8. Though didn't your friends LR75 show signs of wear quite early ?.

It's only oil-cooled but it's still running great... btw, you may get it for quite less than $900 if you are interested?

k27/8 on my original 3.0 8 valve head car. Was purchased from David Raines of powerhaus at the time. Was one of the fastest 968 cabs around at the time, a lot of low end tq, but ran out of steam at the upper rpms. Went with a to4 60b / 10 hot side currently.

Not sure how realistic it is but say 10lbs in the lower gears by 2.5k and around 18lbs at 6.5k without overheating the charge would be adequate.

KKK 3LDZ(equivalent to K-27) With 62mm impeller works fine with my 3l 16v motor all stock Reliable and pulls hard from 3500 to 7100 red line.Superior one piece shaft bearing and turbine shaft,The car makes 516 hp @1,6 I have 6000 miles trouble free,on that turbocharger.PS The new Porsche gt2 turbines use the same one piece bearing technology.
