Actual Intake Manifold Temp Data
#46
I have been measuring temperature in the hardpipe from intercooler to the throttle body with my techgt in my race car.
On the race track with enough laps for things to hit steady state I have seen temperatures out of the stock intercooler as high as 175F. With a huge front mount intercooler, similar boost level and ambient conditions I get temperatures out of the intercooler around 100F.
Ambient around 70F.

By frequently reading the dual display gauge* I am logging the data in my head, from which I am drawing the conclusions in my previous post, but have a hard time printing those raw data for “wider consumption”

Lol. Chill Rob.
To the OP, thanks for starting this thread, BTW. I was actually ruminating on this very topic; I need to determine the effectiveness of my meth injection.

Hmmm….maybe Rob should add an intercooler to his keyboard!
Most folks seem happy with just smoking meth. Injecting it sounds a little over the top! From what I have seen continued use of Meth will result in better intake flow rates….once your teeth fall out there is less restriction.
On a real world note – the stock intercooler does a very acceptable job on any street set up and 75% of the track cars – as long as you are using a turbo with in its peak efficiency range. If you are running your turbo outside its intended range then fix your turbo, not your intercooler!

The thermometer on the outside of my house isn't hooked up to a data logger. F@#$@#$@#$KKK What the hell was I thinking????
So I guess we should all remove the Fuel gauges in our cars.....their not connected to a data logger.......same idea....Yes???????Anyone
HAAAAAAAAAAAA!

You are comparing the turbo compressor outlet temp that can increase with several hundred degrees in less than seconds with checking the outside temp?

Yeah, sorry if I took it too seriously. I can see the reason for the joke but that's one of few parameters that really need to be datalogged to make good use of.

Not to mention the performance increase due to copious weight savings!
