Default stock rims dont fit!

so got some stock 15" rims with winter tires....tried to bolt them up and the brake calipers rub on the inside of the rim.

tried a 1/4' spacer...didnt fix it.....so i stacked two 1/4' spacers...still didnt help( i know spacers are a no-no...but i wanted to try anyway.

the car came with really nice cross drilled rotors(maybe too big) and im not sure if it has the big brake kit on it or not.

my question is.....what are the dimensions of the stock calipers? and what size are the stock rotors?

thanks,

adam

Doug is right, 16" are stock for a turbo. I don't know if 15's would work at all, but I doubt it. There's not a lot of room in a 16 for those brakes.

As to your other question about stock brake sizes, the easiest way to tell if you have factory brakes on a 951 is to see if your caliper is axial or radial mount. I've never heard of anyone putting a bigger brake on the car that is axial mount, but the stock ones are. Unless, of course, you have the TurboS brakes. Those are radial mount, and they're bigger than regular turbo brakes. But, again, I really doubt that 15's will fit on a turbo. Regardless.

I think I've seen someone fit 15" on the rear once, but not on the front. Definitely need 16"

Didn't the early early 951s have 15" phone dials?

Early as in '86? I'm almost certain that they all had 16's - whether they were Phones or Fuchs.

There are 15" phone dials with a part number of 951.362.104.00

Whether or not any 951s actually came with them I don't know but in another thread someone confirmed they'll go over 951 brakes.

Awesome! Thanks for setting me straight on that! I've been wanting some wheels for winter tires for a while now.. and waiting for a set of early-offset 16" phones to pop of for sale might take forever.

For sure, 15's do not fit over 951 calipers on late offset cars.

I have heard Europe had some 15 inch phones. As others have said 16 inch only on 951 in the USA. Not to mention 944 15 inch phones will not fit over calipers.

Apitts have you checked the part number on the back of your rims?
