Whoops, its been covered already!

UPDATE: You guys were right it has something to do with the ignition system!!

Here is what I did to the car today: I changed all four spark plugs with new ones, cleaned off the rotor contact, and changed out the distributor cap with a used one. The plug wires are pretty new but they may have been damaged I inspected but did not see any known issues. I remember one of the contacts tore out and I put it back last time I did the plugs several months ago not sure if that one is causing the issue or not.

The car is now hesitating like before but now at 18psi and not at 15psi like before. The issue is more intermittent as well sometime it won't hesitate sometimes it will. I only took a a 10 minute drive but will continue to monitor.

What do you guys suggest trying next. I am getting real close!! Thanks Again for your help!!

What are you gapping them to?

Replace the wires and cap and rotor.

When did you change them last? If you've been running them for awhile now at .032, the gap will be too wide now.

.032" is too wide for anything over stock boost pressure (and really it is too wide for even that, factory spec is .028").

Here is a quick guide for the stock ignition system:

For a car running 11-12psi of boost, set the gap to 0.028".
If you are running 15psi, tighten the gap to 0.025".
Above 15psi, run the plugs at 0.022".

Also, keep in mind that usually overboost limit on pump gas is ~18.5psi...

Everyone thank you so much. I just gapped them to .022 and went for a test drive. No more hesitation or hiccup on the boost whatsoever!!! I measured them when I took them out and they were closer to
.034 gap. You guys really saved me a lot of stress. Now I am holding to 18psi in every gear with no problems or hint of any problems!

Joshua- I am really pleased with the new tune and can't say enough about it! Thanks for you help and posting those gap measurements. And yes the overboost protection is working right around 18.5 psi that is a whole differant feeling when that kicks in....

THANKS!

What plugs are you guys using? I just swapped mine out for some NGK Iridium plugs (which, according to NGK, need some crazy equipment to gap - so I didn't) and I swear my car is running just a touch richer across the board.

Every car that I've used iridium plugs, I've taken them out after only a few hundred miles...
Stick to a std copper plug

Cool. Well, the good news is, I got them for free. A buddy had them in his 968 briefly while he was waiting on on a set of those magical 3-prong ones the factory used for that motor. Will go buy some standard plugs today!

I'll never go back to Bosch.
