Default Where to install water temperature sensor

I bought an AEM digital water temperature sensor and want to retain the stock gauge for no other reason than I hate having something on my dash that doesn't work.

The car is a street/track car so I would like to keep an eye on temperature at track days.

How and where is the best place to easily install the sender?

I looked around in other threads and came across this adapter from Pegasus: https://www.pegasusautoracing.com/pr...asp?RecID=2937

Any thoughts on using this adapter and where it should be placed?

Thanks!

Ideally you want it coming out of the block before it gets to the radiator. Your options are tap the upper coolant gooseneck for a sender or get the hose splice adapters like you linked to.

I use the hose splice, works well. Downside is you add two other potential failure points in the cooling system.. but there are so many hose clamps / hoses in the stock cooling system this is really only an increase of like 2%...

I went with the in line placement same as the picture Techno Duck posted and used this adapter:

I think the 34mm is what I ordered and it fits great. If I did it again I would definitely tap the gooseneck instead just because I think its cleaner looking and like has already been said, less potential for leaking.

I tapped the head outlet gooseneck just below the bleed screw. There's enough room there...barely.

Thanks - I am going to go for the easy solution and have purchase a 34mm splice. When I go to the track my whole car is one big potential fail point so adding two hose clamps doesn't faze me.

Also gives me a good reason to replace the hoses I should have replaced already.

Again, thanks for everyone's input.

My car has it like technoduck's... of course it didn't work until I figured out it needed to be grounded.
