YES!

Too bad that engine isn't in a real track car, not a blinged-out sound-wagon like that.

Everytime I see an engine like that in a car with a friggin radio I get confused.

Take care!

Nothing wrong with a decent stereo when you are a, "Run What You Brung" track driver.

After spending a few hundred grand, what's another few hours of time to sell the stereo to Lart?

LOL at the idea of somebody contending they spent over $200,000 on a 951. First, a "master motec technician" as is claimed does not have that kind of money. Further, anybody that has that kind of money can easily pay a couple thousand dollars to have the car completed.

I must have read his add too fast. I did get this part, "To complete this car it requires a professional Motec tuner."

It's unlikely the seller is a competent Motec tuner, otherwise this part of his text would scare most from this car.

I sent a question to the seller about the transmission. My question based on his list of mods, specifically this, REGEARED GEARBOX WITH LSD / 968 6SPD.

If I get an answer I'll share. Many of us have researched either a larger R&P gear or longer gears. VERY EXPENSIVE, and the Vette six speed made to fit has similar cost to making the 968 box with either a larger R&P gear or longer gears seem too expensive. Note: We still have the issue with a trans box designed for a 300-400 hp car vs making the six speed ZF rear mounted trans designed for 500+ hp Corvette's.

I guess so. I guess what I'm trying to say is it's a shame such a great engine is in a streetcar, not a true racecar. (It's not like the guy couldn't afford a dedicated racecar).

But hey, whatever floats yer boat I guess!

Maybe I'm misunderstanding you, but the 968 box is good for 500+ hp I believe. I don't know what its limit is. Yes, the AOR 951S box is only good for high 300's. Maybe low 4's.

Some people do spend that amount, sometimes more, on 944s. Not really something to be laughed at. I know a few people who have. I have a huge appreciation for the work they've either put directly int the car, or towards earning the funds to pay someone to build it for them. It's something they take pride in, rightfully so.

Also - without the people who do spend that kind of funds and time on these cars, a lot of parts out there would never have been produced and designed, and therefore not available. Yes, really. At the end of the day, these are the people that keep the industry alive and kicking.

I could be wrong here, but since it seems to be a street/track car, yes you would need a MoTeC technician, I don't think its really a matter of 'completing' it. You'd want to change the fuel map between street and track.

Take care!

Looked like the car was sold for much higher than asking price. Hope it went to a good home to someone on here who can complete the project.

It was stupidly cheap at $31k for what was in there. Maybe not as much by US standards but by the rest of us that is....

there's 2 ways he could have paid for it. he could have earned the money by hard work or he could have "earned" the money another way..

I know this car. Just saw this thread. The whole story behind this car is like a bad soap opera. I witnessed it and still shake my head.

What some people do.

Oh and just to tie a couple of things together......this is the car that had "someone's" shiny aftermarket intake on the original engine that was dyno'd and then tossed.

I also got stopped in this thing by a detective for speeding......that was back when it had the Vitesse stuff on it prior to the 16v engine. Oh the memories. lol

I figured there was an interesting back story on it. The motor didn't match the car for sure!

Both of these points need elaboration!

Also, on an unrelated note, I think I recall seeing the same skull and crossbones sticker in the 944 GTR picture thread a couple of years back. Is this a coincidence, or does Michael Mount have some connection to the builder of those cars?
