Tony,
I send you a french and sincere congratulations for your awesome project.
You gave to this 944 a new life, and I have not no doubt, that your car will be competitive on the track!!
The only thing that I regret it's the fact that you used a american engine...!!!

Regards

The LSx engine is an amazing engine. But... it is temporary. My future plans are for a 2014 Porsche Panamera twin turbo V6 to go in after it's raced and sorted.

the V6 twin turbo is a good choice , have a look on what our "french flying driver Loeb" has been able to do on Pikes peak .Peugeot used this kind of motor comming from the 350Z NISSAN.
This architecture of engine is going to allow you , weight saving and better balance .
Congratulations yet !

Yeah... the V6 will allow me to get over 75% of the engine mass behind the front axle line which will have big benefits on turn-in and over all balance.

The big question is really about the long block height and width (more so width). I have yet to find any dimensions on the new engine. Hopefully it will fit.

I can't even imagine how much more that will add to the build cost.

btw....Your car is a beautiful piece of engineering.

Thanks... but all along I have known that ultimately it's got to be either a Porsche motor or full electric (yes... I've got alternate plans to go full electric... 600ft/lbs & 400HP). Electric could be done. The power is there. The fitment and battery capacity is there for club racing. But there is just too much development that lies ahead for fun racing. It's just too much of an engineering exercise. And... I'm not getting paid for it. So that's out.

That leaves gas. And that means either a V8 or turbo V6. And the choice between the two is pretty clear.

That's why the Porsche V6 turbo is what is going to get installed down the road.

Now... if it would just fit between the shock towers.....

Time to start fitting wheels....

2012 cup car wheels for a trial fit. The rears are 12". I'm thinking that a 13" is what needs to go there. And it looks like we're going to widen the wide body.

Looks great!
Any plans to enhance the aerodynamics of the body? Such as vent the front and rear wheel wells, rear diffusor, side skirts etc?

Could work!
But I would focus the efforts on the aero. Such as the latest RSR but with a diffusor with vertical fins.

All of the above. Looking at the flares and the side skirts of the Caddy as a template.

The car is going to get flat bottomed from the engine cross member back to the rear suspension cross brace, then to a difusser. The exhaust will exit through the center of the difusser.

Dwain is talking about venting the front wheel wells. No mention about the rears yet.

So now it's wheel and body time....

Be good to employ an Aerodynamicist on your build. Doesn't have to cost a fortune either.

They have one that used to work from a major open wheel team they consult with.
