Most people seem to prefer going to fat staggered 17s or 18s around here but I prefer the look and cost of 16s. (And yeah a big reason is because I don't have the cash to drop $1000 on oem wheels+ huge tires that I can't rotate and I hated the replicas when I tried them).

Looks like the biggest you can really fit on the oem 16s is 245? Could they handle 320 or so horsepower and typical torque in a 2750lb car? I'd really prefer a square setup, I'm not much into drag racing but I don't want the rear end squirreling out every time I lay a little on the throttle. My car is used mainly for spirited driving with the seldom autox or DE.

If you have a lsd it'll help some but with over 300- I assume at the wheels, those 245s will not be able to cope when you are heavy on it at 2700lbs. In autox and DE, you won't have traction to be competitive I would think. Go 245mm all around to negate some over steer if you can but I would keep a look out for at least 17s with 9.5-10 in. wide at the rears for that hp level.

Do you currently have wheels you want to use? Are they the OEM Club Sports (forged)? Native size is 245-45-16 in the rear. They are 9'' wide. Look at tire websites (tirerack, etc), and you can see what 16'' tires will fit (they show, for example, 8-10'' rim, so they would fit your 9s).

Whether they will hold the power you put to them, that depends on the compound.


To answer your thread topic though...

Running the 7'' Club spots with 225 50 16 all the way around would be pretty small, I don't know if you have m030 or not, to run the 6'' rims... heh..

You're a little ambiguous in your request, but I'm guessing you want the widest 16" tires that don't require work to fit, right?

I'd say 245s all around would be a great setup. The common size for 17" tires and possibly 18" as well for street cars is 225/255, so you would have more total rubber. As for the power, when I got my car it was around 320 hp and it had 16" wheels with 205/225 RE-01Rs. Yes, they were smaller than the factory sizes and the car was just fine. It didn't perform as well as it did when I put wider tires on, but it was in no way unsafe or squirrelly.

245/45 16 on mine on the rear. fronts are still 205 but they're getting replaced pretty soon. probably go 225/50 16.
