Windshield Replacement
I know, I know... "who replaced the hood struts..." But that's not what is important right now.
What do you guys think is the best way to go about doing this. I am hoping to stay OEM because right now that is what my car is 100% original. I have found an OEM one from a Porsche dealership for $525 but it is "shaded" vs. "tinted." What is the difference? How much am I looking at otherwise?
Thanks a lot. I really appreciate it.

Make sure you find a good installer. I had a window replaced in my 951 in Falls Church, VA and the installer broke the first window. He then misinstalled a second windshield. I have heard that installing these windows is very tricky.
If you find a good installer, please pass on the info. I plan to have my current windsheild replaced once I get back to VA.

I just did an online quote from safelite and it came out to $528 (not bad). But I'm assuming that it is going to be aftermarket. When I say OEM, this is what I am looking at (bottom of page):

This site was referred to me by Aaron Miller (Ramius665) and has had nothing but great results.
Still wonder the difference with shaded and tinted.
Thanks guys!

Will be doing this in the future for the 968 too. Tried to start removing the shattered 968 one in hopes of being able to transplant my good 951 over to it...nope, major PITA. Not going to risk it. Much rather pay to have it done. Should be able to save some money with the 968 one since it doesn't have the antennae built in like the late 944 ones do.

+1 for Safelite......I had them install an early windshield(no antenna and yes it fits perfectly) and also they are much cheaper, it was less than $300.00 installed with my AAA discount.
I also stopped by the shop and spoke with the manager before I had them install it and he really took care of me.

I used a local installer (track car, so no antenna) and it was $300 installed. They did a top-notch job - they came to my garage, showed me how the previous installer did a crappy job, then proceeded to install it flawlessly. It probably helped that the installer is a dirt track racer, so he really grooved on the car.
