951 Slow at 2k rpm floored in Second gear
I have an '89 turbo. Can someone tell me if their car is weak at 2k rpm and you floor it in 2nd gear. I "try" to autocross my car and hate having to shift into 1st during the middle of a course. There is so much lag at this point, where I have to downshift. Is this the way other 951s are or is my car just in serious need of a tune?

I believe that @ 2000rpms you will have about 50rwhp and about 100rwtq I will need to see a dyno of a stock turbo S

Little known fact: these cars actually produce negative hp/torque at 2krpm.
You have three choices with a 951:
1) downshift and put additional wear on your poor old tranny
2) don't downshift and deal with the fact that you'll never get FTD because you're so damn slow
3) spend lots of money coming up with a very complex solution involving new turbo and tuning.

That is called turbo lag my fiend.
If you want to make a more dedicated autocross car, you'll need either,
A) an A-tune or M-tune from rogue tuning that uses 3D timing and fuel mapping to get the best performance and response.
B) a 944s2 R&P gears for a shorter gear ratios
C) a gt28 size turbo to have full boost under 2300 rpm but sacrifice top end power but you'll still make more power then stock. This requires custom modification.
Or
D) all of the above.

Just the nature of the car unfortunetley. Eliminate all exhaust leaks, gutting the cat and putting on a MAF setup will help. Left foot braking helps also.

cheapest solution is going with a B-ghey engine can't beat that for low end torque

Take your pick. probably the best chance you'll get to get full boost at 2k rpm. but you'll want a decent size wastegate 42mm or larger for back pressure.
