My 87' 951 has a recently installed Autothority MAF w/ shimmed factory waste-gate and factory injectors that recently failed Colorado emissions...BAD. It blew a 4.02 in the HC category, and a whopping 60.000 in the CO category. State baselines for this car are 2.5 and 20.000 respectively. Any help as to why, and what can I do to pass? I have the factory Autothority Stage II chips installed and have recently had a complete tune. I installed new NGK plugs, Silicone ignition wires, new Bosch distributer/cap/rotor, oil change, new custom 3" exhaust with performance CAT (NO2 emissions were passing) and Magnaflow system, so any help...PLEASE? https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/confused.gif

Just put the stock stuff back on, you will spend more time trying to get it to pass with the Autothority crap than it will take to put your stock stuff back on.

The cat is probably still OK for now. You could probably pass running some E85 if you get the ratio right. If you need to pass and get stickered without paying late fees that might be the way to go until you can get a piggyback and/or better software. I'd suggest a test pipe to save the aftermarket cat during tuning.

I passed the NO2 part, it's the "spent fuel" and HC part that failed. The notes are that it is running too rich. I installed a new CAT and have done everything else.
I am thinking that it ts possibly a bad injector? Thoughts...?

APE runs rich.
There is a small potentiometer in the APE stuff that you can turn that leans it out. You will need to lean it out to pass.
IIRC, my APE setup (the one time I had to get emissions with APE) the potentiometer had to be turned quite a bit. Be care as without a wideband you may go too lean (but I doubt it). At one point I had instructions for tuning in the APE chips with the potentiometer.

My point is that if you are running rich the cat will not last too long. E85 will also lean you out but it'd be hard to guess how much you need to use to pass. You would not want to leave the car like this, just use it as a way to get your sticker and avoid late fees while you sort out your engine management.
If you have a stuck injector your plugs should reveal which one. Stuck injectors are pretty rare in my experience.

Not to beat a dead horse, but installing the stock chip will take 10 mins. Pass the test, then go nuts with the E85 experiment.
I'm not sure I'd put the APE chips back in, no matter what...
