Turbo Build Update-Oil Leak From Cam Housing
Hey all!
The turbo build is nearing completion! After 6 months of laboring it fired up tonight! I have one major issue..it's leaking quite a bit of oil from the cam housing gasket area. I put a new one on during the engine overhaul and torqued the bolts to spec, but it was leaking a lot. Any advice?

I don't really have an answer to your oil leak problem, just want to congratulate on your nice looking engine bay.. Looks really great and pretty much how I want mine to end up, black car with red hoses and cam tower.. Great combo..
Its difficult to see from the pics, but is that a NA front on your car.? Looks like it.. Why.?

I had to take my cam tower off 4-5 times before I gave up and used Hylomar Blue sealant along with the steel LR gasket, which I was using in anyway 'cause of my solid lifters.

Yeah it's an NA body..
Thanks guys. Do i need to remove the cam housing and gasket, then apply the sealant in place of the gasket? Or do i put the sealant on the outside edge? I don't have much experience with liquid gasket makers.

Hello some times the cam housing gaskets can slide durning the installation even though the pins are there. Also make sure you seat the bolt evenly thus not to pinch the gaskey .
If the surface areas are straight there is no need for sealant in this area ( also if you do decide use some type of sealant the spay type works well .and you wont have to worry about the excess on the inside of the motor traveling around . dp951
