Default Downpipe gasket replacement

1987 951 stock.

Failed smog miserably, can hear major exhaust leak on turbo side. mechanic said leak was a gasket at the turbo. Planned on pulling intake but before I did I lifted the car and found a major leak not at the turbo but at the base of the down-pipe where it connects to the exhaust pipe to the cat.

Any advice on changing out this gasket? Do I need to drop the whole exhaust? My cat is welded in from a previous repair.

Normally, you can remove it by undoing the 3 bolt flange at the downpipe, undo the wastegate tie-in, and undo the 4 bolt flange at the start of the muffler pipe. Not sure where yours is welded, so that might change it up for you...
