Default Who has done Chevy Intake Valves?

I did a search and can not find a lot. I am researching different head mod options. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I haven't done it, but I had a shop look at them for my 951 head. He said Chevy valves would work, but they need to be cut down, and regrooved for keepers. The 951 valves are quite a bit shorter. Also, the stem on the 951 valves is larger in diameter than the Chevy valves, so Chevy valves are better for air flow. Just have to use thicker bronze guides to compensate.

Also, custom valves can be made from quite a few places for ~$50-$75 each, so that might be the better route. Just have the stem made the same size as the 951, but make the valve any diameter you like.

Not the answer you were looking for...but its better than 0 posts?

I'd call LR to inquire about the big valves they use in their level 3 head, or try to find an 89 NA head and redo that one. Sounds like a lot of work to use the Chevy valves.

I thought it was blasphemy to install Chevy parts in a P-car.

I'll also add...

The prices I've gotten from shops around Las Vegas to install larger valves, and port/polish were pretty close with the LR head, and even Chris White's "guy". IMHO, because the prices don't vary a lot, its worth it to use a trusted RL vendor. Customer service and trusted reputation are worth a few hundred to me.

I have special retainers for custom 7mm stem valves instead of having to use the Chevy ones. Plus you need to machine your pistons for the chevy valves, my valves you can order stock or +1mm which works with stock reliefs
