Default Bilstein Escort Cup Questions for T-bar deleted cars

Who offers them with spherical bearings? Is it that much better then the factory bolt? It's a BIG bolt..

I will offer a new Coilover in about 3 weeks: still trying to verify spring rates (get recommendations) for both torsion-equipped cars as well as w/o. I have a 140# to test on my '88TS first.

12-way externally adjustable, bearings top/bottom, under $600/set is my target. I'm a vendor for PelicanParts so I hope to sell them through PP. I'll post pictures up here once I'm done.

Bilstein Motorsports will weld them on. I believe the guy you need to talk to is Jose.

I have escort cups rear with heim joints and the big racer's edge bolts. The lack of rubber makes the ride harsher and noisier. For a street car it's barely tolerable, but I can deal with it on my dual purpose car. I also have the tbars still in place. Make sure you order right size ID for the bearing races or you will have to machine some spacers like me.

Would this be a four corner coilover setup, as in front and rear?

No. Rubber is not perfectly fine. It will distort especially if run without torsion bars.

It's a compromise. The rubber does provide quite a bit of dampening. I decided to use the stock rubber ends and will deal with them at a later date. The stock lower shock bolt is larger than the racers edge/ground control style adapters that are required with a spherical end.

Even a custom nolethane bush would be a good option I would think.

Why, what's wrong with a well-known, American made shock that's externally adjustable? Good warranty, lightweight, quality components: just doesn't have a big name like Bilstien or Koni to it. I've had them on my 928 for years now: 100% better than the Konis or Bilsteins as I've had multiples of both.

Street, track, DE, 1/4 mile, high-speed.

For what it's worth.. not much but they remind me of GAZ coilovers and I haven't read promising DE/track reviews in the past.. I'm also not interested in anything else so if you want to continue about the suspension mentioned above please start a new thread.. Thanks

I am seriously thinking about getting a set for my street car. Looking forward to getting more info on the kit.

i've been working on a dual rate spring complete coilover system for street cars and de cars as well. have done tons of research and trial and error. i looked into both GAZ and QA1 but i just couldn't go there for the quality i wanted. i guess it's fine for a $600 price range but it doesn't really make sense to do that on one of these cars to me. just my opinion, i'm not knocking the setup you're going to sell as it's a different price range for sure and there is probably a market for it especially with some NA guys.

but seriously, they're not even close to the quality of the bilsteins or konis. not even the same sport. know that you're selling a very cost effective system, but don't compare it to the big boys and say it's better. many of these guys tracking these cars have raced for years and used them when they were carrera's. they know what they are.

Mark, I sent you a PM. I'm running QA1s on my car and had a couple of questions.

FWIW, I've had great luck with QA1s on various vehicles over the years. The ones on my 951 were bought used and need to be rebuilt/revolved - something I should have done before installing them. Personally, I like them better than Koni because of the aluminum body and ease of adjustment. If QA1 made a front strut for our cars, I'd probably run them too.
