If you've spent all the money to do a 16V Turbo, then spend the money to do the engine management correctly. I'd talk to Chris White.

I have a number of 16v turbos running Electromotive or Haltech systems.
I would not recommend a piggyback system for that application. The stock 968 engine management set up is very different from the 944 – so a lot of the stuff that works for the 944 turbos will not carry over to the 968 EMS.
Feel free to call me (315-636-8716) if you have any questions about a standalone system for your engine.

Mike,

The Motronic system running the correct software works fine. We have many 16V turbos and 3L running in the field (street and track). The system works, installation is simple and it's pre-tuned for you. You also have the capability of tuning (if desired) to match your car 100%.

We have multiple 16V turbo engines running the Bosch Motronic. Most do not frequent this forum. Sean, JET951 on this forum, is running a 16V 3L. His car have seen many track hours with good success. Drop him a note and get feedback directly from a end user.

If you have any specific questions, feel free to drop me a email.

OK, it looks like my post may have been misinterpreted – what I meant to say was that the 968 Motronic engine management system is a lot different from the 944 system. If you back date to the 944 turbo DME and harnesses to run your 16v in a 968 then John’s stuff is proven to work quite well (as long as you can find a good stock harness!)
You will have a lot of ‘fiddling around’ to do to get everything running right – things as basic as the power on signal are different. (the 968 power on signal to the DME is a pull to ground vs a 12v for the 944)

In the end installing a 944 turbo Motronic system in a 968 is as much or more work than installing a full stand alone system.

Chris, in the original post he stated having DME/KLR the 968 does not have a KLR. Even a 968 DME will not be a problem, one of the reasons I purchased a 968.

You are correct, the original factory harness, in some cases, needs some TLC. At the same time, getting a standalone running properly is not a easy shore. But if someone to go to standalone, Chris is the guy to call.

Regardless, he has many options which is always a good thing.
