Post K27 Install Tips

I will be installing a K27 soon and I would like some advise on installation tips, procedures or special tools required to accomplish this task.

Well...if it's anything like installing a Stage 2 Huntley Garrett turbo, then check out Danno's website.

I found his pictures and descriptions useful. Unfortunately (installation-wise), my new HR Stage 2 turbo has a bigger (as in huge) cold-side housing than their previous unit, and has a full 3" inlet from the MAF. The installation was a nightmare (according to my mechanic). He swore it wouldn't fit. Various index bolt heads had to be filed down, coolant piping modified, underside of intake manifold and throttle body shaved, etc etc etc...and finally it did fit. I could never had installed it myself. So, that's just my personal experience. I'm sure the K27 will be a much easier installation. As I said, check out Danno's site for a fairly detailed description.

My mechanic's having a fun time installing my HR stage 3 turbo too. The alternator's in the way, intake manifold's in the way, pretty much anything in the surrounding area is in the way. It's close to completion.

Here's a good picture of how it looks so far:

The rest of the images can be seen here.

I have no idea how the car's going to run, the car will fire up for the first time tomorrow, then it's fuel maps on the SDS, and some dyno runs and tweaks. I just hope it doesn't snow...
