I was told by my tech. you could knock it out from the underside using a piece of wooden dowel (a round wooded stick)...I know this as the machine shop who did my head asked me the same question...Told them and they removed it with no problem or drilling...

I just took it of using my ........small finger! No kiding!
It was quite easy if you are carefull.

PS the valve cost $287 in the USA and 215 +16% TAX in Germany.!!!!!
The old one with the spring cost only $15 for the whole kit!!!
