951 test pipe emissions

951 test pipe emissions
Has anyone with a test pipe taken an emissions test? What were the results? How many miles were on the car? Are there any fuel additives that I can use to increase my chances of passing? What about dry gas?
Thanks,
Mark

Mine passed with flying colors. Both gasses tested for were around 1/10th the limit for my car in this state (north carolina). I have a 3 inch turbo back open exaust, with only a straight through muffler.

I have an APE MAF and chips w/ 3bar fpr. and Bursch test pipe. I changed back to 2.5bar fpr and passed everything but NOX with the test pipe, it was nearly double the limit. Put the cat back on and passed NOX with a small margin. This is Atlanta emissions which is fairly difficult.
On a good note, I can swap pipes in 30 minutes now without burning my arm...
Good luck.

Took the cat off my car and replaced it with a pipe because it was vibrating really bad on startup. As luck would have it, the government up hear scrapped the "Air Care" program so cars don't need to pass smogg any more although the local MVB is supposed to pick it up. I don't expect to pass if I get checked and cat's are expensive so I may have shot myself in the foot
If you're thinking of doing away with the cat, spend the money and buy a bolt in replacement test pipe!

Hi Keith,
Do you own Farzaan's old car? For your info, Farzaan's friend Lowell Foo (L&R Racing, 604-552-1426) recently built me a full custom 3" s/s exhaust for my 951, including a cat and replaceable testpipe. This 3" cat wasn't really that expensive at all, something like $150-$200CDN. I actually still have the stock exhaust sitting in my basement, with cat intact. I'd be willing to sell it to you if you're looking to replace your rattly one.

I will let everyone know the results when I go. Apparantly this won't be a problem for a while seeing as Windward is struggling to send me the exhaust(I ordered it October 16)

Well,
I decided to test the car without doing anything to get a "baseline". Guess what, it failed miserably. The St. Louis metro area is under a Federal emissions reduction program, so it's pretty stringent. Hydrocarbons must be under 0.8 grams/mile (I was @ 5.5) and CO must be under 15 grams/mile (I was @ 97). Running kinda rich. NOx passed barely. If I lean things out won't the combustion temps go up? Won't that mean higher NOx?

i wonder if on my arc2 i could just turn the low and mid ***** to like full lean, and just so it barely idles, this way im not on boost so i couldnt hurt anything and they cant not inspect my car simply due to it running rough, i have to go thru this this month too and im planning to run the fuel pressure real low, like 2.3 bar and lower the low and mid controls to full lean and then eek in and out of the new new york state inspection regulations, ill keep you guys informed as to if my gutted out cat will pass this way or not, later, Russ keep the info coming on your situation please

Option code M154 is reduced emmissions. It's for California cars and some others around the world like Japan, Austria. By bridging two wires in a connector located near the DME, it makes the computer run reduced emmissions. I wonder if this would make a cat test-pipe equipped car run cleaner?

Too bad I don't have a DME. Tecart, I just finished removing my Bursch testpipe and reinstalling the cat (1.5 hrs) so I won't have any "tune to fool" info for you. I'm going to use the fuel trim **** on the SDS and dial the fuel values down 10% across the board. That in conjunction with the cat should do it I hope.
