test drive
Here is a GoPro video of some initial tuning of a 3.0 8v with lots of nice parts (including the new Tial version of the GTX35)
Rolling start at 20, litfed at 120. Not much time in between!

Be interested where that turbo starts to work. Seemed to be a fair bit of thought of using the new GTX3076 in place of the older GT35. Do you have any charts yet Chris? What other mods?

That video was the first full load testing – it will be going to the dyno in a week or so – its snowing pretty hard right now! 12” of new snow about 20 miles from me, we only got about 3”….but it still coming down and the wind chill is below zero!
The engine has a lot of port work that is a little unconventional for a 944 (big D ports). It has a 928 T body on an SFR intake, a Vitesse Cam, SFR 4 into 1 headers, Tial’s version of the GTX35 and my usual Darton Mid sleeves and Tec3 engine management.
The Tial GTX35 (it’s a GT series with Tial’s billet compressor wheel, GT center section and Tial’s stainless hot housing) seems to be doing a very good job. I am seeing 2-3 lbs of pressure at 2500 rpm. I haven’t done any real testing (need controlled conditions for that!) but it looks like full boost in the 3300 -3500 range. There is a little crossover leak to fix due to the SFR cross over not being line up right – once that is fixed I call tell you about the spool up.
BTW – using the usual shift points you can get a rough idea of time to accelerate. 2-3 shift is at 60 and 3-4 shift is at 100. Looking at the video you can see the throttle being open up at about 4 seconds and the 3-4 shift is at 12 seconds. That’s 8 seconds for the 20-100 acceleration. Keep in mind that the acceleration run started below the power range of the engine (starting RPM was a little over 2k). I think it has some power!

Sounds promising. Is this one that you will be able to show charts for? Does the owner post on here?
