Exclamation 951 cutting out

My '86 944 Turbo has a very frustrating problem. The engine will cut out after accelerating fast or going at high speeds. When I hit the accelator after doing this, the engine just seems to want to die and the accelator will do nothing when pressed. It also doesn't want to stay started for a short time. after a couple of days this problem usually dissapears. Any ideas?

A rich condition may be causing the miss. This could be caused by several things. One of the likely areas is a bad Throttle Position Sensor(TPS).

If the TPS hasn't been replaced on the car, I'd go ahead and replace it.

Here's the link for the test procedure:

Good Luck,

Sean

Overboost protection?

Is your car stock or modded?

What boost level do you see on the dash gauge?
Does the car accelerate to redline if you gradually increase the revs?
Does cycling the power on and off solve anything?

Could be a bad AFM...
