NZ is not Florida or SoCal so I'm sure you don't have lots of choices used. I have not owned a 996 but have driven a few - they are nice cars - you should not lose any respect for buying a C4 Cab. Do you really want to change the front of the car though? That is usually a death knell for resale - changing the front is what I would not do. I don't love the front on the 1999-2001 but it is a good color and the wheels match the rest of the car - IMS failure scares me so I would do that right away. 2002-2004 C2 coupe for me.

Hmmm well I can always keep all the 996 parts and swap back when selling... and then sell the 997 front end, so not a major. Something to consider down the track... the 996 front end is just ugly! But might be different if I owned one, you know how even ugly children are loved by their parents?

To each his own. I suppose if you keep the parts to change it back it isn't that big of a deal. To me though (and probably just me) a car that has been changed is fine, but a car that has been changed to look like another car is wrong. An example is a 911 SC with 993 bodywork - it's tacky. Maybe the early 996 doesn't have the best front end but you are going to show everyone the tail anyway right? Looks like a nice hardtop on that car. I would love to drive a car like that in NZ. I bet you guys have great driving roads there.

Agree the SC with 993 looks VERY bad. We have some incredible roads here, especially around the south island through forests. All nicely banked and green scenery everywhere.
