Post any boost in neutral, running through RPMs?

Quick silly question: Should I be showing any boost if I'm in neutral, just running the engine through the RPMs up to redline? I was going to be testing my boost problems, and I was hoping to be able to tell if any changes I am making are helping, without putting the car down and driving it around the block. Should I be getting any boost in neutral? Am I an idiot for asking? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" /> Thanks!

You shouldn't show much, if any. The reason for this is that the engine revs much faster than it normally does because the drivetrain isn't attached, so you hit redline before the turbo has enough time to spool fast enough for positive manifold pressure.

i get maybe 2-3 pounds if that, if i stomp it hard at idle by the time im at redline. Just enough so let a good swish out of my BOV when revving.

OK, that's more than I'm seeing. No matter what I give it, it doesn't even get back up to 1bar on the stock gauge. Thanks guys.

The stock gauge is usually sluggish and or wrong. Dont go by it, it just kind of gives you an idea. Get you a seperate boost/vac gauge.

motor isn't under enough of a load to produce a significant amount of boost
