90 turbo cab build thread
I though I would start a new thread to cover everything I plan to do to the new 90 cab.
I tried out the 2002 996 turbo wheels on the car and I don't know how I am going to make them fit. They stick out too far.
The fronts don't fit over the bearing dust caps, they will need some small spacers but they are right at the limit to fit under the fenders as is.
The rears stick out about .5 to .75 inches too far.
Is there any way to stretch the fenders just enough to clear the wheels? I don't need much more room.

Another option is going with a set of flares.
What do you think of going with a set of these flares on a white cab. I would use the factory look bumper.

Cabs don't take well to messing with the body structure. It's likely you'd get more body flex from cutting up the fenders to add flares.

Fender flares on a cab? IMHO that would really trash the great looks of that car!
If you really want to use those wheels you could do it by switching to the 86 rear hubs. Then you get you 1” less back spacing. Its not that big a deal to do – plus you would have new rear wheel bearings!
BTW – my 968 turbo cab should be on the road this spring….

Thanks thats the combo I have been looking at for my 86 . Will be going to late offset on the front and leave the rear early. And also agree with Luis about the backwards twist on one side you would think Porsche would make 4 different wheels since your not going to be rotating them any way. That said I have the 18" Boxster twist on my 87 951 and fake twist on my 83 NA . Just try not to look at the rh side.

You would probably have the only cab ever with flares - it would look cool in terms of being unique but I don't know about the 996 twist wheels then - the car would be so wild with the flares that you would need some wild wheels to complete the look - take a while to think about it before you cut up your new car - you can sell your wheels and buy some wheels that fit without cutting your fenders for a lot less than it will cost to buy and mount the flares. For example, you could get some nice Carrera lightweights for $1000, sell your wheels for say $800 and save yourself the $1000+ it would cost to do the flares. It is your car though - you should make it how you want it.
