Default Any LSx boys running a FAST intake?

Any LSx people running a FAST intake/large throttle body?

I'm asking due to clearance issues.

Just thought I'd check in first before I spent the money.

I need another 15RWHP (very large cam with LS6 intake with 78mm throttle body currently... and am considering larger 102mm Fast setup).

Thanks,

TonyG

Have you considered a ported LS2 intake?

Hey Tony,

I'm not running one, but I'd be very concerned about fitment. Not necessarily the intake, but the throttle body...

Default 15 hp

Tony,
Last year I put a ported LS2 intake w/90mm TB on a LS6 the engine had a small cam (224/228-112), ported heads and it gained exactly 15hp. I used a custom throttle body with a remote IAC motor to clear the 951 hood. Another option for TB is go DBW and use a stock LS2 Vette TB flipped upside down and add the DBW pedal. Here is a pic of one of the TB's on my 968 with an LS3. I can send you a pic of the install on the 951 but will have to ask my customer to send me one.

Very nice.

I was contemplating a throttle body spacer that angled it down slightly clear the hood. I was concerned about the flange on the manifold though. But I see that you have a custom throttle body made. Who made it? And can they do something as large as a 102mm?

I'm not going to port the heads because that would for sure put me over where I need to be (approx 440RWHP max). I'm already at 420RWHP.

Based on some dyno testing it looks like the 102/102 setup would get me about 10-12RWHP with my current setup.

I'm not running a Fast Intake but have a LS6 intake with Professional Products 85mm throttle body and spacer, I have no clearance problems.

Tony,
I made the angled spacer to clear the 968 hood but on the 951 no spacer was required. Runner height on the Fast intake is a lot taller than an LS2 so it might interfere with your strut brace, I think DVC is running an LSX intake so you might drop him an email and see if there are any clearance issues. Nick Williams makes the TB, they are used on LS2 GTO's with blowers. Not sure of Nick does a 102mm but there is plenty of room to open one up if you needed to.

The ported LS2 manifold and throttle body are really the best bang for the buck right now and will easily get you the 15RWHP. There are always cheap used LS2 parts on eBay from all the C6 owners upgrading. You don't really need the huge *** FAST intake unless you're looking to make every last drop of power from the LSx engine, the ported LS2 is perfect for mild stock displacement LS1/6s.

How do you convert the LS2 tbody to use a throttle cable?

Forgot that part, you don't. I had a mental lapse and was still thinking in the C5 world.

However there is no shortage of aftermarket 90-ish mm TBs that are cable driven. Put "LS2 throttle body" in ebay or google and you'll see plenty of varying manufacture and price. When it comes down to it the TB is probably worth the least in HP gain.

The issue with aftermarket TB's will be the hood clearance. The IAC motor sits on top of the TB and is 1-1/4 tall, the TB I used has a remote IAC so you actually gain hood clearance compared to the LS6 intake TB.

I really like this ls2 idea. I could prob sell my ls6 intake and almost break even w/ a ported ls2 unit.

Ordered the FAST 102mm intake :-)

And I gave instructions to fabricate a new strut brace if it's in the way (which it will be), and that the new strut brace shall be a triangulated brace... strut to strut to the firewall (something I've been meaning to have fabricated for years).

The only issue is the throttle body.

So...

Who has info on a compatible remote IAC that will work with the F body computer.

And who..... can make me a tiny.... low profile 102mm cable throttle body?

We are going to go to straight MAP from here on out.

And we are going to fabricate a TB extension that will go out from the intake manifold a good 1"-2" and slope down to get hood clearance.

Any help would be appreciated.

PLEASE post pics of the strut brace when its completed and installed!!!

I've been thinking about designing my own brace to tie in the firewall, but I was concerned that the area in front of the HVAC plenum wouldn't be strong enough to handle the forces of the flexing strut towers.
