Post Dash Clock

The clock on my dash has been broken since I've had the car. As these things are so expensive to buy (why??) does anybody know of a cheap fix? Or does anybody have one for sale?

Have not done the brakes yet, my MOT (annual test) is due soon and I need two rear tyres and new fog lamps first...

Mine was also broken when I bought the car last November. But since I have a digital clock integrated into the aftermarket Sony radio/CD player, I don't see any need to replace the dash clock.

Are you sure that your clock is actually broken, or is the backlight bulb just burned out? I recently replaced the backlight bulb ($3 part) on mine, and there is a big difference in visibility even during the day. If your clock display is really broken, you will not see anything on the display even under bright light.

I just replaced the light behind mine and it made a difference. Make sure the light isn't out.

The price of a new clock is $300 from madirect.com or performanceproducts.com. I saw a few on EBay for half of that.

The LCD screen is broken so its definitely knackered. Oh well, looks like I'm resigned to forking out big dosh on a silly clock (if its there I have to have it working)!

Call a UK breaker... I am sure they would have one. There are a number of ads in Porsche & 911 World with listings of UK Porsche breakers. I'm sure they can save you a lot of money.

Is the clock actually supposed to be backlit? Mine works, but since there's no light it's impossible to see at night.

Yes it is backlit Paragon has a <a href="http://www.tech-session.com/Paragon/Tech/944_clock.htm" target="_blank">Tech Session</a> for replacing the bulb.

I replaced the bulb in mine, found a spare at a local VW dealer here in Santa Cruz, the whole process took twenty minutes. The clock is visible again!
