Cool

For the record 952 is offical Porsche model designation for 88 and beyond model with 250bhp. It is clearly visable on the car's identification metal plate in the engine bay. It reads Model: 952

yes that is correct. the 951 is the engine code for the 944 turbo up till the turbo s and that engine code is the 952.

and i'm quite certain there were more than 200 or so registered. you must be talking about 952 cabrios..

that pic looked VERY sharp! man.. now i want one!

Here's more images of the same car. Man I had problems communicating with this guy, this guy doesn't speak english, and he thinks everyone should adapt to his german language.

cheers,

FYI there were no RHD 944 Turbo Cab. made.
It's however a lovely car, my father has one with only 23000 kilometers on it!

I think the factory records shows it was a total of 625 made. (All in 1991)

Hi Greg
Price is not too bad (no bargain either), asuming the car is in good condition and without any colision damage.
The 952-cab has never been officially imported to USA so you might have a small problem here.
You may want to search the archives on this topic.
There was an excessive thread on the web board some months ago about importing euro spec cars in USA.

I asume that the car has German registration (Kraftfahrzeugbrief is with the car?).
Please note that importing it in The Netherlands will cost (the tax is called BVB, you need to know the original list price in the year of manufacturing, talk to the nearest tax office, they will be able to help you).
To have it registrated here the car needs to be checked by RDW, just technical check to see if everything is OK and according to the Dutch rules.

There is no (legal) way you can drive the car in the Netherlands for longer than 6 months on foreign registration. it is considered an tax violation, all governments in this world respond the same to that....

Question

Anyone knows why Porsche discontinued in making this car? I love this style of porsche more than the 911, I'm talking about the body style, no offense to 911 owners. When was the last year they were made?

cheers,

91 I believe is the last year for any 944. 1992-1995 they were replaced with the 968.

Did everyone go look at the mobil.de website? I started looking and ran into some funky cars!
This orange one: (it looks like a factory color used on 914s)

Then this awesome silver looking one: did any american versions ever come in this color silver?

Then this funky 944/968 combo:

From what I was told by someone at the Porsche factory last year:

Danno is right, a RHD 944 turbo is a 952. Why people feel compelled to call their 88ts and 89t a 952 is beyond me, unless its RHD. This might explain why SimonK sees a 952 code somewhere in his car assuming his is a RHD 944 turbo.

Duke:
[quote] FYI there were no RHD 944 Turbo Cab. made. <hr></blockquote>

The 944 turbo cab was made in both RHD and LHD with the majority of RHD cars going to the UK.

1992 was the final year for the 944's in Europe. 1991 was the last year it was available in the US.

88 Ts and 89 Turbos do NOT have 952 clearly written on the engine.

They have the M44/52 written (where as the M44/51 is for a non S Turbo), but nowhere is there 952.

Ask me how I know

This '86 Euro has 90,440k miles and is LHD and was converted in several areas including that molded on side marker, speedo mph, cat, possible rear bumper change.
