Default seat rail mount - is this normal?

Please let me know if this is normal/original. I need any additional headroom I can get, and if this is some type of hack job from a PO that I can remove and get the rails on the floor, I'd prefer to go that route.

Defanitly not normal, and probably not safe in an accident.

Thanks all!

Yes, the seat moves fine, never realized that there was anything unusual about the mounting until I vacuumed there over the weekend.

No, not that I've noticed. Though you can't see it in the pic, the rear of the rails are secured with bolts that go through these nuts.

I wouldn't be quick to judge as hack job. There is probably a reason they were put there, obviously the PO went out of his way to do so. What exactly is the safety concern here? The bolts are maybe a tad longer? It's still a secure mounting surface, just because it isn't flat on the floor doesn't mean it isn't secure. Sometimes certain sliders have issues sliding correctly because they can get hung up on carpet. The best way to solve this is with spacer plates, not nuts. However, the previous owner was being McGuyver'ish. Also, if it's on a fixed back seat with limited adjustability, those nuts could act as a recliner of sorts to adjust the seat to the correct position. That I wouldn't recommend doing because you're bending the track unless you have a piece of metal machined to the correct angle you desire.

What kind of seats are they? Stock or aftermarket? My post was assuming aftermarket but I didn't think to ask until now.

Agreed that it's not a hack job. Sure it would be nice to have a perfect billet spacer in there, but these seem to do the trick... whatever that trick was intended to do. If the old hardware was used and is now only biting with a couple of threads, then hack job. I would guess that there is new hardware in there.

I proclaim it a hack job. Now if both were flange nuts, then maybe....
