I think in order to fit the 27/6, you will need the low profile sensor. A few who upgraded the turbo's mentioned the same issue you are encountering in the following thread:

The low profile temperature sensor you want is from NAPA P/N FS158

Glad you found us. Search for K27/6 with username TonyG (and to a far lesser extent my user name, gregeast) for most everything you need to know about fitting a K27/6.

Cheers.

I ordered mine through Autozone which was a special order. If you search PP, someone mentions the Autozone part number in a thread.

Wires? It should just be the sensor with a push-on connector at the end just like the current sensor.

Where did you end up buying the sensor? Was it in stock?

Default vdo 232.011.017.010

Posting in this thread as a matter of documentation. Installing a k27/6 currently. The napa/autozone stubby sensor closes at 90c which could cause the pump to run too much. azmi951 pointed out in another thread that vdo 232.011.017.010 works, it closes at 110c. JEGS has it, item 918 232 011 for $33.99. I broke the nipple off my stock switch by accident so I soldered a wire on, should fit. It it doesn't work I'll get the vdo switch from jegs.
